Starting with a Briggs
23 hp Vanguard V-Twin engine with a 3"
long crankshaft:
Using
a 8.5mm drill bit, mark bit with tape to a drill
depth of 2 5/16"
Use this mark to determine how deep to drill
thread hole deeper into crankshaft
HINT:

Drill
crankshaft thead hole to tape mark on drill
bit.
Note: Yellow pointer
Put black mark on crankshaft 2" from crankshaft
shoulder near engine side cover

|
After
blowing out steel chips from drilling. Use 3/8"
24 thread tap to thead existing threads deeper
Note: Must use a 3 flute tap. |

|
Cut off crankshaft with sawsall. using the black
mark as to cut position
Make crankshaft cut square.
Afer crank is cut off, make sure threads are 1"
deep into crankshaft.

File
edges of crankshaft and file keyway so edges
are smooth.
